Mapping to Revit
Autodesk Revit enables properties to be taken from BIMQ by using “shared parameters” file. This file contains groups and the parameters to be used as project or family parameters. The name and unit of a property are also transferred.
With BIMQ it is possible to output the properties defined in the project guidelines in a special format for Revit (as of version 2015) as a * .txt file as a “shared parameters”. The mapping to elements, property sets and properties in BIMQ is independent of the later application method in Revit. The mapping to Revit must be supplemented in the project guidelines in order to be able to generate the software template file for Revit and for the AEI editor in Revit.
Mapping of elements (Revit)
The mapping of an element in BIMQ describes which category (which component type) is used in Revit to identify a component. By default, properties are assigned to elements (components) manually using the "Parameter Properties" dialog box. If, on the other hand, you use the AIA editor, the corresponding component category of the selected element is recognized and only the property sets, and properties of the associated category are displayed.
To complete the mapping of elements for Revit, proceed as follows:
1. Click View to adjust the work area accordingly.
2. Place a check next to the Revit version you want to use in your project. Then click on Save.
Left-click on the corresponding Revit field of the element.
Option 1: If you want to use a predefined category, the mapping of elements can be configured using a selection list. All predefined categories in Revit are displayed as a selection list.
Option 2: If you do not model this element in Revit, leave this field empty.
Mapping of property sets (Revit)
The mapping of property sets is not possible in Revit, due to the software, since only parameters in predefined groups (e.g. ID data) can be created there. However, the mapping of property sets is entered as groups in the file for "Shared parameters".
To complete the mapping of property sets for Revit, proceed as follows:
1. Click View to adjust the work area accordingly.
2. Place a check next to the Revit version you want to use in your project. Then click on Save.
3. Left-click on the corresponding Revit field of the element.
4. Complete the illustration of the property set as required.
5. Then click on Save to confirm the entry. Or click Cancel to cancel the entry.
Mapping of properties (Revit)
BIMQ offers a free text field for the definition of mappings of properties. In addition, the property maps can be configured using a selection list. This list contains the properties of the selected Revit version predefined in the basic guideline (template).
To complete the mapping of properties for ARCHICAD, proceed as follows:
1. Click View to adjust the work area accordingly.
2. Place a check next to the ARCHICAD version you want to use in your project. Then click on Save.
3. Left-click on the corresponding Revit field in the property.
Option 1: Predefined parameters: If the property is a predefined parameter, e.g. Fire Rating, simply select this parameter from the selection list. (Please note that the selection lists can be different for different Revit versions.)
Option 2: User-defined properties: If the property does not exist in Revit, enter the name of the property in the Revit field.
Option 3: If you do not need this property in Revit, leave this field blank.
Note: This process affects all dependent objects in the BIMQ database.
4. Then click on Save to confirm the entry. Or click Cancel to cancel the entry.
