Datadrops

Overview

A data drop is a planned, standardized data delivery to document the progress of a BIM project. The transfers usually take place at predefined milestones and ensure that all project participants are up to date with the planning and construction data. Data drops are always defined with fixed due dates, which facilitate smooth collaboration, early error detection, and efficient planning and construction execution.

Configuration

Datadrops are created on a project-specific basis and can be accessed via the menu Datadrops / Datadrops.

  1. Each datadrop is uniquely described by specifying the Code & Name. A corresponding description is optional. Any number of datadrops can be created.

  2. The due date describes the binding time of data delivery.

  3. All datadrops created are displayed on the right-hand side, including the required use cases for each phase.

  4. On the left-hand side, all use cases per service phase are displayed, which were defined via the menu Project Setup / Assign Use Cases. Assignment to a datadrop is carried out using the drag & drop functionality.

Special features

When viewing the Processes (left-hand area), please note which project structure has been used. Depending on the project structure selected, either:

  • Phases and Use Cases

  • Milestones and Use Cases

be assigned to a datadrop.

Checking Rules

Checking rules can be generated for the datadrops created. These are called up via the menu Datadrops / Export > Checking Rules.

  1. Specification of the check format and the exchange format used.

  2. The created datadrops including the assigned combinations of phase and use case can be selected.

  3. When exporting, a ZIP file is output which contains the check rules for the selected datadrop in the respective check format and exchange format. Checking rules are output separately for each discipline model.
